How I show up

My title has changed. My working style hasn’t.

I grew into leadership the same way I grew as an engineer: by staying curious, working through hard problems alongside people, and sharing what I learned.

I start with the whole system.

Before a team commits to a solution, I want us to understand the architecture, constraints, alternatives, and risks well enough to make a deliberate choice.


I stay close to where plans meet reality.

That can mean shaping an architecture, reviewing code, designing an algorithm, testing the complete customer experience, or stepping into a field-engineering problem with the team.


I want the team to be stronger after the work.

Coaching is the through-line in how I lead. I share context, ask people to work with one another instead of around one another, and help engineers grow the judgment to make the next difficult decision.

Sometimes the useful move is an architecture. Sometimes it is a code review, a customer call, a test plan, or a hard conversation. My ethos is to pair servant leadership with business judgment: clarify the outcome, focus the team on the work that creates value, and apply my engineering experience where it has the most leverage.

These projects began with real constraints: an unclear path, customers blocked before they could see value, or an ambitious launch without a credible delivery plan. I stayed with the problem from the first questions through architecture, delivery, validation, and learning.

Replaced a four-to-eight-week feasibility cycle that could include an incorrect proof of concept with an architecture-first options and limitations review before implementation.

Reduced sandbox evaluation to five minutes through a fully self-service workflow that uses synthetic data to demonstrate the efficacy of MDAI solutions.

Built an engineering practice from zero

Built and ran the engineering practice from roadmap through delivery, hiring 12 engineers and three contractors while establishing Jira-grounded Monte Carlo forecasting for predictable delivery.

I spend my personal time with my family—a joyful, chaotic, hands-on mix of coaching, cooking, tinkering, building, and learning as we go.

Current adventures with my favorite people

  • Coach my kids’ soccer and T-ball teams while teaching them to be good humans and helping them understand money and the economy.
  • Cook whenever I can; I used to stage in professional kitchens in Chicago. Beer and wine are my drinks of choice, and ube is my favorite tuber.
  • Tinker with electrical and mechanical projects, including upgrading my kids’ ride-on vehicles to run on power-tool batteries.
  • Take on DIY projects—especially woodworking—and look for practical ways to reduce my carbon footprint.
  • Powerlift enthusiastically. Loathe cardio unequivocally.

Personal time is where I get to be curious for no reason other than joy: making things, teaching what I know, learning with my kids, and refusing to pretend cardio is fun.
